Breakfast : A review by an overnight Assessor from VisitEngland.

A very extensive breakfast menu is in place, local and home made produce taking centre stage.

Traditional dishes are complimented by several fish options and meat free burgers which are

made with spinach and eggs.

Starter choices include a range of cereals, freshly prepared fruits, porridge which can be

complimented by local honey, fresh grapefruit, yoghurt and a choice of fruit juices.

(Tea, chilled water, fresh pink grapefruit, home-made brown bread and local honey)

(Mackerel and fennel potato cake, meat free burger served with roasted vine tomatoes, chestnut mushrooms, local bacon and fennel) wonderful alternatives to the traditional cooked choices.

Richard is passionate about food which shines through in the attention given to producing breakfasts. The subtle flavour of the mackerel and fennel potato cake was most enjoyable neither the fish or fennel being too over powering, the chutney served to accompany complimented the dish very well. The meat free burger which is made from spinach, egg and breadcrumbs made from homemade bread was equally as enjoyable, a softer texture than the look of the burger suggest, all flavours of the dish coming through well. Very well executed.  Breakfast is served in the guest lounge/ breakfast room which is a well appointed room overlooking the garden, many guests enjoying watching the birds which are encouraged into the garden.  Breakfast service flows well Richard being attentive to guests needs, choices having been made the night previously service is prompt, checks take place to ensure guests have all they need with additional beverages also offered.
